On the Hoof Judging for the Borthwick trophy was conducted on Monday 24 September under the eye of Jonathon (Jono) Spence who is a director, stock agent and auctioneer for Spence Dix & Co Livestock and Real Estate Agency, Keith, South Australia.  Jono has judged numerous large regional and Royal shows with some of his more recent judging appointments including the 2013 Led Steers at Adelaide RAHS, 2010 Led Steers at Adelaide RAHS, 2009 Limousin National and the 2008 Led Steers Brisbane RNA.

This year a contingent of 3 pure bred Australian Shorthorn entries comprised of a roan calf sired by Roly Park Live Wire (second picture) who placed second in Heat 1 of the Led Domestic (300kg – 400kg) section.  Bred and entered by Scott Bruton, Roly Park.  The top red/white steer placed 1st in Heat 3 of the Led Export (500.kg and Over).  Sired by Bayview Unique the steer was also placed the highest ranking School Led steer.  Bred by Spencer Family and exhibited by Longerenong College.  The third steer was also sired by Bayview Unique and exhibited by the college.  The Australian Shorthorn team were placed a credible 7th.  Congratulations to all involved.
